Construction Manager

Location: Meckering or Northam, Western Australia


Role Overview

 

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead and oversee the development of a new Kaolin extraction and processing facility. This role is pivotal in managing all aspects of construction works, civil works, infrastructure, and utilities required for the successful execution of the project.


Key Responsibilities

 

  • Act as Project Leader for the construction phase of the Kaolin mining operation from planning to mobilization to completion and handover.
  • Plan, implement and enforce the company’s Health and Safety management regime and achieve zero incidents’ objectives in compliance with mining regulations
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary construction team onsite consisting of supervisors, engineers, safety personnel, QC and subcontractors
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all construction activities including:
    • Earthworks, civil works and site preparation
    • Infrastructure development (roads, drainage, utilities)
    • Installation of power, water, internet, and all essential services
    • Erection and installation of SMP, electrical and process equipment
  • Ensure all work complies with approved construction drawings, standards, mining codes and company specifications
  • Liaise with local authorities and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with federal and regional standards and practices.
  • Manage and negotiate with contractors and suppliers, ensuring quality, timelines, and budget adherence.
  • Prepare and manage project schedules, progress reports, and cost control measures.
  • Take a hands-on approach—willing and able to perform tasks independently when necessary.
  • Representation of LB Minerals when obtaining Permission to put the facility into operation
  • Organization of final inspection by the state authorities

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management
  • Proven experience of 15+ years as a Construction Manager or Project Manager in large-scale industrial or mining projects.
  • Strong knowledge of local and mining regulations, standards, customs, and operational practices in Western Australia.
  • Strong commercial and contractual acumen and ability to lead negotiations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with local authorities and stakeholders.
  • Expertise in civil engineering, infrastructure development, and utility installation.
  • Outstanding safety leadership and demonstrated safety behaviour in the field
  • High level of self-motivation and willingness to take ownership of tasks.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Based near site around Meckering or Northam area
